Poached Pears with blueberries

For the month of January we have been buying only perishables and using up our accumulated inventory. We had lots and lots of frozen blueberries to use.
This is a very easy dessert. Pears are readily available in winter at the Farmers' Market and blueberries we keep frozen most of the year.
One pear and 1 cup blueberries makes enough for two people but could easily be eaten by one person.
Ingredients:
One cup frozen blueberries
One fresh pear, cut in half, core removed (you could use canned)
Optional:Maple syrup to taste. We don't sweeten it for us.

To Make:
Place the pear cut side down in a pan with 1/2 cup of water.
Add the blueberries.
Simmer until most of the liquid has boiled off and the pear is soft.
Add Maple syrup to taste (1 tbsp)
Serve warm.

This is also a good snack for people coming in out of the cold.
